Salsa Lizano

Salsa Lizano or “The best sauce you’ve probably never heard of!”
I have some family traveling down to Costa Rica right now and that reminded me that I wanted to share one of my favorite condiments of all time with you. It’s a Costa Rican sauce called “Salsa Lizano” and it’s amazing. The best way to describe it is vinegary, sort of sweet, with a hint of pepper and cumin. It’s not spicy at all and you can put it on anything including beans and rice, chili, veggie burgers, tofu, or any other food that needs a little kick.
The rub is that it’s not easily available in the U.S. However, there are increasingly more options for ordering it online. I’ve ordered from CostaRicaProducts.com before, but you can also look on Amazon or other online vendors.
Ingredients (just FYI): water, sugar, salt, vegetables (onions, carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers), spices, acetic acid, pepper, starch, hydrolyzed corn protein, mustard, turmeric, sodium benzoate, sodium bisulfite, and sulfur dioxide.
